This Is One Of The Most Unique Gifts

If you are looking for 30th birthday presents ideas that are totally different, here is one that is really cool.  Why not have your man become a racecar driver for a day.  This is the best gift I gave my fiancé  Brandon, who was absolutely stoked by that idea.   He had the thrill of his lifetime with this terribly exciting experience of becoming a racecar driver, even if it were only for one day.  He looooooved it.

This is what and how it happened.

We both like cars, and more so, fast cars, and we like going to car museums and exhibits.  We have seen cars that we didn’t even know existed.  Many are customized to their owners’ specific needs.   The most recent exhibit we went to was the Shelby Mustang car museum and exhibit. We did not know much about Carol Shelby, the designer of the Shelby mustang, who was also an award winning racecar driver. In fact, he dominated US road racing from 1952 to 1960, and won the 24 Hours of the LeMans race  in 1959.  He created the incredibly fast and supercharged Cobra race car, as well as the Shelby Mustang GT 350 race and street car.  His cars are famous for speed and design.

Most cars at exhibits are not for sale; they are typically collectors’ items that belong to wealthy car lovers.  But at the Shelby exhibit we were surprised to find out that there were a few cars that actually were up for sale, and they were real beauties to boot.  I could just imagine owning one of those professionally souped up cars, and driving it home. Alas, for us they were so out of reach financially.  And we were not out to purchase anything.  But there were also some really great looking racecars on the exhibit floor that one could actually rent. What was also so convenient, was that the exhibit’s location was situated right across from a racecar track.

What a fortunate coincidence, don’t you agree?  How enticing!  Yes, one could reserve one of the rental racecars at the exhibit, drive it across the street to the racetrack and take a spin or two around the track.  What an enormously exciting experience that must be for a guy who had always dreamed of just keeping the metal to the pedal and whooshing around the track like an Al Unser, a Mario Andretti, a Richard Petty, or even like the late Paul Newman.  He would feel that incomparable rush of racing without any oncoming traffic to contend with, hitting top speed, letting the adrenalin flow freely, and flying by anything else in the road.

Aha!  That’s when the idea for 30th birthday gift ideas for him hit me. Why not give him the gift of becoming a racecar driver for a day, driving a real honest-to-goodness racecar on a real racing track, sensing the thrill of what the professional racecar drivers experience and forever treasuring this single super sensation. I wanted this more than anything else for Brandon’s 30th birthday, and started doing some research.

I found out that there are racetracks that offer an option for people to rent one of their racecars.  If they have never driven such a car, they can rent one that comes with an instructor.  If however, they have had  instructions in the handling of a racing machine, they can drive solo. I also learned that there are numerous driving “schools” that can prepare a person specifically for this type of adventure. Most of them have a slew of cars from which to choose.   Brandon would fit in the category of not needing an instructor as he has had some experience with a fast car already.  But not on a professional race track with a real speed machine!

So I went back to the track across the Shelby Mustang exhibit and made arrangements with the track management to have a racecar ready for Brandon’s 30th birthday.  I did not tell Brandon anything about this until the day of.  30th birthday ideasI “kidnapped” him, and drove him over to the racetrack.  He had no idea what was going to happen until we got out of the car and were approached by the manager of the track who escorted us to the racecar that was ready for Brandon to drive. It was a beaut!  Brandon could not believe what he saw.  He was going to handle this phenomenal machine, alone on this awesome racetrack, no other drivers around, and he could just let go of all worries about speeding.  He then suited up with the necessary, and professionally prescribed fire-retardant clothes, gloves, safety helmet and boots.  He looked just like a professional racecar driver, ready to jump in the driver’s seat, rev the engine, and speed away.  And that is just what he did.  He raced that car several times around the track as if he were a medal winning champ, going at full speed towards the checkered flag that would proclaim him the winner.  What an unforgettable sight that was for me.  To see my man have the time of his life, doing something he had always wished for, and I made it happen for him.  For Brandon, this was an experience that would put him in a category of uncontested racecar drivers.  At least that is the way he and I think about it, because, after all, there was nobody on the track who surpassed the speed he went, and nobody who reached the checkered flag ahead of him.  He was the champ of the day, on the track and off the track, because he was MY Champ!

These Ended Up Being Awesome 30th Birthday Presents Ideas

So, what can you give your boyfriend on his 30th birthday?  Well, of course, the gift of fulfilling a dream that many guys would die for.  Becoming a champ of a racecar driver, even if it were only for one day is at the top of the list for unique gifts!

Need  Some 40th Birthday Ideas For Your Man?

Well, why not a Man Cave!

When a man reaches his 40th birthday, and if he does not already have one, then he deserves to have his own Man Cave.  This is just something that may men long for.   My husband, Bruce, and I talked about a cave for him for quite some time, but we put if off and put it off, and always had some kind of reason for not creating one for him.  We did not have the space, we did not have the time, or we did not have the money to convert one of the rooms into a Man Cave.  They all seemed like such valid reasons.  But then finally, when Bruce turned 40, we decided to go ahead and make it happen.  He had waited at least a couple of years already, and we knew that if we were actually going to do it, then the 40th birthday gift of a Man Cave would be the perfect reason for creating one.  And we finally did create his Man Cave!  I say that it is “we” who made this Man Cave, but my only role was to find and secure the space. I would have no say whatsoever in how the interior would be decorated.  Bruce would do that himself with all his own favorite stuff and paraphernalia, and anything else he found necessary with which to equip this personal, private, manly getaway.

 The Ultimate 40th Birthday Gift

My dilemma at that time was finding just the right space for this “sanctuary.”  It was no good having it in the house (ours is rather small), where we kept the one spare bedroom for our son when he comes home from college on his breaks.  That will remain his room until he decides to move out I suppose.  And we have no basement or livable space in the attic. We definitely did not want to do an add-on to the house.  That would be way too expensive.  So I looked elsewhere and saw the old tool shed in the backyard which we used for storage and junk.  We hardly knew what was in it anymore as we had not used it in many moons.  It was still in very good condition, not huge, but would be just right for a medium-sized cave.  My job was to empty out the shed, clean it up, and make it ready for Bruce to start moving his stuff in.

I had given myself a month at the most to get the job done.  So I got right with it.  One garage sale, one load to goodwill, and putting the rest of the shed stuff in the trash, and viola, I had a space that could be converted into the long-awaited Man Cave.  And, what a surprise, it looked so much bigger now that it was empty.  I was off to an excellent start.

It took me only a little while to get the shed cleaned up and scrubbed down, but once that was done I was very pleased with the result: a pretty neat, not too big, private empty space away from the house, which would be Bruce’s own getaway.   I did ask him if he had any idea what color paint he wanted his cave to be.  Of course I wanted to give it a nice fresh look with new paint, so it would not resemble the old shed in any way possible. He preferred a neutral, warm shade.  He also wanted it carpeted, so it would be nice, cozy, and warm in the winter.  None of these improvements took too much time or money, and I can’t begin to describe what an incredible transformation the old shed went through.  With a couple of fresh coats of muted-color paint and a small new carpet, our previously abandoned little storage shed looked pretty darn amazing.  I could not wait for Bruce to start his part of the decorating, which he did eagerly and quickly.  He too, could not wait to start using it and claiming it as his very own.

You Know He Couldn’t Leave Out The Beer Fridge!

Well, the first thing that Bruce acquired for his new sanctuary was a beer fridge, which he promptly filled with his favorite beers and other drinks.  Then he brought in a flat screen TV, a couple of comfy chairs (for when his best friend comes to visit and share his cave with him), and of course, a computer with internet access, as well as a good surround sound system.  He really did an outstanding job with the stuff that he fit in his cave.  I got to see it when he was 40th birthday giftstotally done.  He had put posters and a couple of banners of his favorite NFL teams on the wall, a really neat goose-necked floor lamp between the two chairs, and an S-shaped stand-up metal holder for his CDs and DVDs next to the TV.  He even had found room in a corner on the floor for an almost real looking fake plant in a basket.  But what I was most impressed with was the wooden sign he had made that says “Bruce’s Man Cave,” which he had hung on the outside of the shed.  That was Bruce’s ultimate masterful step in proclaiming his own private getaway.  I loved everything I saw and was so proud of what we had accomplished.

Bruce’s best friend now comes around much more often than b.c. (before cave) time, because the two of them love watching their games there.  They can yell at players or root for them as loud as they wish. They can hibernate there if they wish, because they have the sanctuary of “Bruce’s Man Cave.”

So, anyone who needs a 40th birthday idea for men doesn’t need to look any further. I say surprise your guy with his very own retreat:  a Man Cave!

CHRISTMAS IS AROUND THE CORNER: What is a good Christmas gift for a boyfriend?

What is a good Christmas Gift For A Boyfriend?

It is never too early to start looking for Christmas gifts, even during the summer months.  You may even see some department stores displaying Christmas items as early as July.  It seems that everyone wants to be ahead with purchasing Christmas gifts early, ringing in the Christmas season early, and getting into the Christmas spirit early.  I for one like that idea because I do not want to be rushed in December, looking for gifts, fighting the crowds and being stuck with having to buy left-over stuff that I never had in mind to get.  But because there was nothing else left for the people on my list, I had to buy anything at all just to have something to give.  That happened to me once, about 3 years or so ago, and I promised myself that I would never again allow that kind situation to happen again.  So, I shop early for Christmas and love it.  My choices are greater, the prices are good, and I can almost always find what I am looking for.  That way, everyone on my list gets what they want.

So when I thought about what would be a good Christmas gift for a boyfriend, I started shopping around early and found what I knew my guy would really like for Christmas.

This Was One Of The Best Car Gifts I Found

My boyfriend Andrew likes cars (what guy does not like cars?), and he really is proud of what his car looks like.  He makes sure that his car is washed every weekend, and often it gets waxed as well.  His car always looks clean, not just the outside, but the inside is spotless as well.  He and his buddies like to show off their cars, and, in a friendly manner, sometimes even compete for which one looks best. They like it when people notice them and complement them on their cars.   So I thought, why not get something for his car that would make it look even more fabulous, and set it apart from the others of the same kind.  Something that he would like and would add to the exterior of the car.  So I went looking for rims.  Not just any kind of rims, but some that have a lot of chrome or bling that shine so that when he is driving, the car and rims will attract a lot of attention.

Having enough time ahead of Christmas to look at a lot of places, I found quite a few rims that would look really good on his car.  One set had a design with twisted spoke inserts.  Those are really cool because the inserts can actually be custom painted to match the car.  My boyfriend’s car is kind of a purplish-silver color, so if he wanted matching rims, they could easily be painted silver for a perfect match.  But if he did not want them matching, those rims could be painted a gold or metallic blue, for instance.  Either of those cool colors would look amazing with a silver car.  I would leave that choice up to him to make.

There was a second pair of rims I saw that I thought my boyfriend would really like.  Those had chromium spokes that are concave.  They are rounded outside the rim and have a star in the center.  Because of the chromium they are not as shiny as the first set I found, but these look really classy and elegant.  Plus, the star in the center gives the rims a look of importance and status.  They give the illusion of a custom-made look, and don’t look like anything that most people on the road would have.

I saw many more different kinds of rims, but these two were the ones that stood out for me, and besides, they were within the budget that I had set aside for his Christmas gift.  And on top of that, I just knew that he would like these, and would be proud to have them on his car.

Since I wanted to get him the rims as a surprise for Christmas, I did not want to tell him in advance what I had found.  So, one day when we were just cruising around I casually talked to Andrew about cars in general and then steered the conversation to rims in particular.  I mentioned that I had seen cars with matching color rims and spokes, and others with chromium rims.  I told him that both looked really cool, but, that it would be difficult for me to select which ones I would put on my own car, if it were up to me.  Well, he was very quick to say that he liked the idea of matching rims more than chromium ones.  He said that it would give a car that carefully designed and customized look.  He even mentioned that maybe one day he would do just that with his car: have a set of silver rims installed.

Bingo!  I tricked him into making it easy for me to go out and get those rims.  He had no idea that I “set him up.”  And, good for me, he fell for it.  I did not have to make a choice myself and run the risk that he would have liked the other ones better.  Of course, I promptly went out and got those rims, but because I wanted an exact color match with his silver car, I withheld having them painted until Christmas came. You can’t imagine how difficult it was for me not to say anything to him, because I was impatient for him to see this great gift I had gotten for him.  But it was only October, and Christmas was still months away.

Finally, when that day came, I was the first one to present him with his gift.  Christmas gifts for boyfriendsAnd before he could say anything right after he opened his gift and saw the rims, I immediately told him that I had already arranged to have them painted that same silver tint to match his silver car.  He was besides himself and couldn’t thank me enough.  And of course, we had the painting done that same week; he couldn’t wait.  And we went off and cruised around town showing off those silver rims.  Andrew was so stoked, and I was happy too!

30th Birthday Gift Ideas For An Unusual Guy

My boyfriend of a year and a half, Brian, is a geek, and I am not ashamed to say so.  He is really good looking and fun to be with on a one-on-one basis. On top of that, he can fix almost anything that has to do with computers and information technology.  But when he was in high school he was never part of the popular guys who got invited to all the hot parties. He did not date anyone then, and he did not care that he was not “cool.”  He and his best friend were always tinkering with computers and working with new ideas on how to solve computer problems.  The other guys thought that he was just a nerd who liked science, math and computers more than partying and having fun.  Some of them mocked him; they avoided starting conversations with him because they found him to be “too smart” and not up on topics that were important to the “in” crowd.  So, instead of spending his spare time on going out looking for fun, he used it to educate himself on becoming THE computer expert in school.

Well, that was 10 years or so ago.  Brian went to college on a full scholarship I 30th birthday giftsam proud to say, took a double major in computer science and math, and graduated at the top of his class, magna cum laude.  He went to work at an international technology oriented company as Director of their I.T. department and is now on track to be promoted to Assistant Vice President of the company.  Because he is so focused on advanced technology, and has the expertise and enthusiasm about everything that has do with technical issues, he is a well-liked, respected, and a valuable staff member of his company.  As the self-proclaimed Geek there, he is one of their rising stars.

When Brian had a birthday coming up, I wanted to throw him a party, and I knew exactly what kind of 30th birthday ideas I had for him.  I did not want this to be a huge big bash, that is not his style anyway, and he does not have a huge big circle of friends.  There is his best friend from school, and then there are a couple of co-workers with whom he gets along really well.  So, I planned a small party at home with the three guys and their girlfriends.  We had fun playing some board games and just hanging out together.

So What Are Some Good 30th Birthday Gifts?

I also knew exactly what kind of presents I would get for his 30th birthday.

Brian needed a new wardrobe, especially with his promotion at work coming up soon.  He did not want to take the time to go shopping, and he mentioned to me that he really would like to try some new “chic” geek stuff.  Apparently this trend in geeky clothes is keeping in style with the regular geek look, but is a notch different.  I was all excited about Brian wanting new and trendy clothes, so I called my best friend, who is also dating a geek, to go shopping with me.  And boy did we find some great stuff.  We had a ball finding stuff that fits well, doesn’t look dorky and is so part of the geek culture.  I bought one long and two short-sleeved T-shirts for Brian that he can layer under V-neck sweaters.  (This look is quite fashionable and very much preferred in geek culture).  One of the T-shirts I got him has scifi cartoons, another has a comic book character print, and the long-sleeved T-shirt is in a gorgeous bold color.  To go with that I found some cool corduroy trousers; one in green khaki and other in grey.  To top this new style I added a couple of fun ties in a paisley design.  They would nicely complete Brian’s new chic geeky look.  But that was not all.  I had so much fun finding all this geeky stuff, that I could not resist getting a couple of accessories for Brian: a shoulder strap messenger-type bag and a neat pair of over-sized, but well-fitting horn-rimmed glasses with zero-strength lenses.

Chic Geek Gifts Were The Right Answer

Brian was sooooo excited about his new chic-geek outfits that he wore them immediately. He could not get over the fact that I went to all that trouble to find them for him. He looks so confident, cute and geeky well-dressed.  His co-workers love his new look, and his friends too were so impressed with all that geeky stuff, that they also went out and got some new geeky-chic togs for themselves.

I can only say to you gals who have geeks for boyfriends:  Love Your Geeks, because: ONCE A GEEK, ALWAYS A GEEK!

30th Birthday Ideas For Boyfriend Who Needs A Little Help!

I have had some weight problems for a long time and have been going to a gym to try and lose some of those extra pounds I have been carrying around.  They have been coming off slowly and Adam, my boyfriend, noticed that too.  He told me how proud he was of me and mentioned that he wished he could do the same.  But Adam works long hours, often comes home late, and is too tired to trudge out to a gym to exercise.  A typical day for him after work is to have a meal at home, watch T.V., play with the dog, and turn in around 11:00 pm., exhausted.  He was always too tired and needed the rest before starting early every morning with his commute to work.  It was mostly on weekends that we had some real quality time together to enjoy each other’s company or to go out some place new.  It didn’t happen often anymore that we did something fun or went out with friends during the week.  He had mentioned more than once that he wished that he had more energy so that we could do more things together during the week.  That’s when it hit me.  He had a birthday coming up, so why not try to get him re-energized without him having to go to a gym.  Get him something that he can do at home without too much trouble or taking up too much of his time.

So, what ideas did I come up with for his 30th birthday?

Since I had been going to a gym myself, I knew what kind of equipment would gym_gifts_1be on the market for home and personal use.  I wanted something for Adam that would help him with toning, strengthening and re-energizing his physical and mental state of health.  And what I came up with was a set of 2.5 lbs. individual ankle/wrist cuff weights with Velcro for easy use.  I also found an Ab roller wheel carver, which works his abs and allows him to gain upper body strength.  This small piece of equipment is especially good as it does not require a large area in which to work, and needs only to be used for short periods of time. These pieces are not boring and won’t torture you, plus they produce results very quickly.  So you can actually see some improvement before too long.  I figured that this is what Adam wanted.  But that was not all.  I also found some brightly colored Power Flex bands.  These you use for upper and lower body strength and to add definition to biceps and triceps.  With that I added 10 lbs chrome dumbbells that have cushioned grips with weights at the end that are removable.

Well, I can tell you that these gifts for Adam were a humongous hit with him, especially the Power Flex bands and the dumbbells. He now takes about 10 minutes, and sometimes less than that, about three times a week to use the weights at home.  In fact, I do the weight and band exercises together with him, which makes it twice the fun.  We both have noticed how much his energy has increased since he started working with them.  And what is even more awesome is that his biceps and triceps are beginning to show some definition.

A typical day after work for both of us now includes a quick 10-minute workout at home, a nice light dinner, then maybe even a short evening walk before gym_gifts_2plunking down on the sofa for a relaxing hour or so of TV time and playing with the dog.  And since Adam feels so much more energetic now, we even indulge in an occasional get together with colleagues for happy hour and dinner. He doesn’t look so exhausted when he comes home from work, and he actually looks forward to using his new equipment.  I can’t imagine why not – he looks good, feels good, and is good all around, if you know what I mean.

So, what is a good gift for a boyfriend on his 30th birthday?  Well, here you have it.  A birthday gift that benefits him and you as well.  What more can one expect, eh!  Go for it!

A BIKER FOR A BOYFRIEND

Birthday Presents For Boyfriends With Bikes

In December my boyfriend and I are planning to take a motorbike trip for a three day holiday.  He loves his Harley Davidson, and takes it to work every day.  He has only had the bike for a little over three months, and enjoys the sense of freedom it gives him as well as the time it saves him getting back and forth to work.   On the weekends he loves to get away and we often go for a ride in the mountains or to the desert. It is on the wide open spaces that Brandon sheds all his worries and stress from work.  We have not taken any long trips yet, so the one in December will be the first that will take more than just one day.  We both are excited about it and look forward to having this new experience.

With the purchase of this bike, Brandon, of course, had to buy himself someHarley Davidson Gifts Harley Davidson gifts and gear to go with it.  So, he has invested in the typical leather vest, jacket, pants, helmet, and boots that are appropriate bikers’ wear. And he looks great in them!  All that, in addition to the bike, put a huge dent in his budget, and I know it.  So, when we started planning our upcoming trip I found out that we really need some additional accessories for stuff that we need to bring along on our trip.

Harley Davidson Gifts?  Is That The Ticket?

Brandon has his 25th birthday coming up just before Christmas, so I had some great 25th birthday ideas and what better gift to get him than something for his bike that would be useful and necessary, but also would reflect his personality.  It is always tough to come up with good birthday presents for boyfriends, especially since he is the type of person who likes things that are of the best quality and at the same time great looking.  He already made that statement with the kind of bike he bought and the gear to go with it.  So I went shopping and found that there are so many options and sizes for so many accessories at so many different price levels.  But I got something that I know for sure he will like and will be proud to show off as his latest addition.  It is a Harley Davidson Saddlebag.  But this is not just any kind of saddlebag.

I got some good advice from the bike shop owner who showed me several bags.  The saddlebag must be a perfect fit, he told me, as a bad fit would be a safety hazard.  He showed me bags made from leather, nylon, and some leather-like PVC type material.  A lot of bikers prefer the leather bags, but I was told that those are not waterproof, only water resistant.  Then there are throw-on bags that fit in the back of the bike and are easily removed, and other bags that are permanently attached to the bike.  Whew!  So many choices!  But in the end I chose the perfect Harley Davidson gifts for Brandon’s bike.  It was a Throw-on saddlebag, which is water resistant (not just waterproof) and convenient for occasional use.  It does not require  permanent bolting to the bike, but comes with brackets from which the bag can easily be unhooked.

Before I purchased the bag, I knew to take the measurements of the exact location on the bike where the bag would be placed. And this bag fits his bike to a T, plus it is great looking.  Now I can hardly wait for his birthday to come along so I can surprise him with this great gift.

Is This One Of The Best 25th Birthday Ideas?

I could not think of better 25th birthday ideas than to give my biker boyfriend for our upcoming December trip.  And he will love me more for it!
